Turning Point French Revolution
The Turning point of the French Revolution was that people began to want to self govern in Europe, already there was a republic in America, but European Kings could dismiss this as a military victory over a want to be free as England had to send troops over the Atlantic ocean and Americans were fighting for their homes. It is a turning point because there was a republic in a large European country for the first time since the Roman Republic. Even though it was a good turning point in the world, it was not bloodless, as the guillotine was invented at the time. An estimated "1,376"(Rich Geib) people were killed by the guillotine The person who caused most of the carnage was Robespirre, the leader for the most radicals of the new political parties, what happened in France is not to different from what happened in the Russian Revolution, Robespirre decided that the moderates and royalists were not radical enough and had the leaders killed. Much like what happens in the Communist countries of today.
The World changed after the French revolution because a people who had been ruled by a monarchy for many generations. It showed the people and rulers of Europe that liberty was not just an American only idea.
I believe that the turning point of the French Revolution was the Storming of the Basille, because this was the point of no return for many French people as they had just committed treason against the crown. What cause the storming of the Basille you ask, it was cause by king Louis sent soldier to break up the National Assembly which was being held on his Tennis Court. This caused the people to retaliate and storm the Basille because they wanted a republic and the Basille represented the oppressive and wrong Monarchy.
It was a turning point because it helped unleash the torrent of Republics that would be formed in later years, if the French Revolution had not been won by the non monarchists, it is probable that Europe would have remained a largely Monarchy dominated country. If Europe does not become more republicanised than is is unlikely that any history after the American Revolution would have happened.
America would probably be little more than the original 13 colonies, as with out the French Revolution, Napoleon never comes to power and the Louisiana purchase never happens. If America did expand it would have been a very bloody war between America, France, Spain, or England.
